Thomas E Johnson FAIA
On August 14th we lost our founder, mentor, colleague, and friend of nearly 35 years. During his storied career, Tom was a leader in the design and rebirth of communities and cultural centers throughout the United States.
He expanded our firm’s knowledge of preservation and restoration efforts, propelling the practice to national recognition. His many successes were founded in a unique ability to create community consensus amongst the many stakeholder organizations involved in these urban projects.
He taught and lectured at colleges and professional associations across the country. Here in his native home of Washington DC Tom served on community boards of regional organizations such as Wesley Housing Development and the American Horticultural Society.
We will be steadfast in continuing Tom’s commitment to the constituency of citizens and neighborhoods in which we practice; and will strive to create memorable architecture inspired by his legacy.
"With great sorrow yet true appreciation, we honor the memory of our founding partner and celebrate his many successes and achievements in life”.
